Construction work fitted to the site
For a new house, the discussion starts with the design, available ground information, access, proposed floor levels and drainage. For an existing home, we establish what remains, what changes and what needs further investigation.

Aldona project: a family home on a falling laterite plot
Property: three-bedroom, ground-plus-one house.
Built-up area: 220 sq m.
Our scope: foundations, RCC structure, masonry, plaster and external drainage.
The owner wanted level internal floors and usable parking on a plot falling approximately 900 mm from the rear boundary towards the entrance. Variable excavation and uphill runoff were the principal site issues.
Before excavation, we established a permanent level benchmark and recorded the proposed floor, driveway and drainage levels. Foundation formation was inspected against the geotechnical recommendations. Weathered pockets were referred to the structural engineer before concrete placement; additional excavation was measured separately and approved before proceeding.
Rather than raise the whole plot with uncontrolled filling, we followed the engineer's stepped foundation and plinth details. Approved fill beneath the ground floor was placed in controlled layers, with compaction checks recorded before floor preparation.
At RCC pours, reinforcement, cover, formwork and service sleeves were checked against the current drawings. Delivery records, workability checks, concrete samples and curing inspections formed part of the quality file.
An uphill interception drain directed surface runoff towards the agreed discharge point. Inspection chambers remained accessible, and driveway falls were checked before paving.
The completion snag: a controlled water-flow test identified ponding beside the entrance channel. We corrected the local paving fall and repeated the test before closing the snag.
The owner received inspection records, concrete test reports, approved variations and a drainage-maintenance checklist.
What this means for your estimate
A slope does not automatically call for filling the plot flat. Surveyed levels, ground recommendations, structural design and a workable drainage route need to be considered together. Another property's foundation or drain is not a specification for yours.
The quotation should distinguish the house from retaining work, additional excavation, filling, drainage and other external items. Uncertain quantities are identified with their measurement/valuation basis. Scope and exclusions.
If your Aldona home is already occupied
Renovation and room additions need an assessment of the existing structure, protection, access and service interruptions. We explain what can be established at the first inspection and which conditions may only become clear after opening up. Home renovation · Room additions.
For owners away from Goa, regular updates and an agreed approval contact keep decisions traceable. See the fictional report example.
Questions from Aldona homeowners
My plot falls towards the road. Should I raise the whole site before building?+
Not without design and drainage review. On our family-home project, the engineer specified stepped foundations/plinth and controlled fill rather than blanket filling. Your solution needs to follow your survey, ground information, structural design and applicable permissions.
How will I know whether extra excavation is justified?+
The agreed assumptions and actual condition should be recorded, with the required engineer review and measured quantity. The proposal explains the reason, valuation and timing effect before approval under the contract. Our Aldona project used separate measurement and approval for the additional excavation.
I worry about rainwater collecting against my house. What will you check?+
We assess site levels, upstream runoff, proposed finished levels, outlet and maintenance access. The appropriate design determines the solution. A controlled completion flow check can reveal local ponding, but it does not guarantee performance under every storm or a blocked system.
Can I ask for concrete test reports and records of the concealed work?+
Yes. The agreed quality plan identifies the records for your scope. On this Aldona project, inspection records, concrete reports and approved changes were handed over. A pending result remains pending until issued and reviewed.
I need only a boundary wall or small repair. Can you assess it?+
Yes, subject to scope and access; we generally consider jobs from ₹15,000. An indicative ₹500–₹1,000 inspection charge may apply, flexible according to the project and confirmed before booking, with credit if the work proceeds.
